TBF To Provide Travel, Logistics And Support For North American Travelers To Thailand 's Most Scenic Triathlon—FOUR Race/Vacation Options Available

SACRAMENTO , Calif. , June 14, 2004 – Total Body Fitness (TBF) today announced it has been chosen as the North America travel specialist for athletes seeking travel organization and race support for the prestigious Laguna Phuket triathlon in Thailand . TBF has been offering adventure vacations to Thailand since 2000, and will offer athletes not only race logistics and support for traveling to Thailand , but three race/adventure travel packages as well.

Assistant race director Michelle Payette, selected TBF as its official North America race travel agent because of the company's performance helping athletes in last year's race. “TBF has been providing multi-sport training and racing since the 90s, their intimate knowledge of the sport, along with their fun and detailed travel specialty packages to Thailand made them a perfect fit to allow our athletes to train, have fun and not worry about the logistics of a foreign venue,” said Michelle, with Laguna Phuket Triathlon. “We're excited about TBF's vacation race packages and hope it will increase the number of North American athletes entering the Laguna Phuket Triathlon.”

According to Bill Driskill, co-owner of TBF, once athletes have completed the distances in triathlon, some become “destination racers” who want to also experience new locals and cultures when they race. “ Thailand is an exotic and beautiful location for athletes wanting to enter their first international triathlon. We can make it easy with interpretation and detailed knowledge of race needs, such as bike delivery and on-the-spot bike repair, plus the best places to go for fun in Thailand . Three race and race/vacation packages are available from TBF for the November 20th race. Package One from Nov. 14-28, is a two-week escorted trip departs from any North American City to arrive in Bangkok on Nov. 14. Trip includes four nights at the world-renowned Peninsula Bangkok hotel, five nights at Laguna Beach Resort in Laguna Phuket and five nights at Railay Bay Resort (near where the movie “The Beach” was filmed.) Adventure activities include: rock climbing, snorkeling, sea kayaking, elephant riding, bamboo river rafting, cave exploring, and abseiling. This package is priced at $2,699 per person, (excluding international airfare to Bangkok ) double occupancy.

Package Two is a one-week package from November 14-21 arriving in Bangkok through to Phuket for seven nights for those focusing on the race only. This package is $1,699 per person, double occupancy. Package Three is also a one-week package from November 14-21. This trip stays two nights in Bangkok at the Peninsula Bangkok, touring the Grand Palace and the capital city of Thailand followed by five night at Laguna Phuket for the race. This package is $1,899 per person, double occupancy.

All trips include 5-star accommodations with daily breakfast, business class domestic flights within Thailand (no long bus trips!), airport pickups and transfers, bike transport and storage, bike mechanic services, pre-race group workouts and English/Thai speaking guides, and fully guided adventure activities. Activities are listed for each trip, but there is plenty of time for shopping, relaxation or a two-hour Thai massage.

About Laguna Phuket Triathlon

The Laguna Phuket Triathlon is a challenging 1.2-mile swim in the sea and lagoon, followed by a 34-mile hilly bike course and a 7.5-mile run along the gorgeously landscaped grounds of the Laguna Phuket Resort and Golf Course. The swim course comprises 2 bodies of water. Starting on the beach at the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket hotel, competitors swim 1,430 meters in the sea before sprinting 100 meters across the beach to swim. The bike course takes competitors out of Laguna Phuket onto narrow, winding roads. The run course is flat and takes runners north through the Laguna Phuket Resort complex, past behind the Laguna Phuket Golf Course, before looping back through winding paved roads, dirt trails. The race is an Ironman qualifier for Ironman Australia and Japan .
