Race Information:

We are pleased to announce that the Swim and T1 for the ICE Breaker Triathlon and Ice Breaker Dash Triathlon will take place entirely at Granite Beach, Folsom Lake. Water levels are sufficient currently, and hopefully will rise further, allowing us to return the Swim to its proper location: Folsom Lake.

Ice Breaker Dash Tri: Swim 400 yards – Bike 6.5 miles – Run 2 mile
Ice Breaker Dash Du: Run 2 miles – Bike 6.5 miles – Run 2 mile

Fees:

The ICE Breaker Triathlon: $60 until 11/31/13, $70 until race day, $80 race day

Relay Teams: $90 until 11/31/13, $100 until race day, $110 race day

Ice Breaker Dash Triathlon or Duathlon: $50 until 11/31/13, $60 until race day, $65 race day

Packet Pickup:

Race packets will be available race morning from 6:30 am to 9 am at the race site. There will be no early packet pick-up.

Course Description:

Swim - The race starts from Granite Beach in Folsom Lake with a .5 mile swim from the beach area. The swim course will be a triangular course marked by the large white triangular buoys. Water temperature should be approximately 62-65 degrees. Wetsuits are recommended. The swim will exit the lake and head up the beach to the transition area located in the parking area.

Bike - The ICE Breaker Triathlon bike course is a TWO-LAP 13-mile course located entirely within the park on roads closed to traffic. The bike course is windy and has several sharp small hills and tight turns. It is STRONGLY recommended that you ride the course ahead of time. Caution is advised on several of the turns as they wind through the hills and oak trees that surround Folsom Lake. After the second loop you will return to the transition area. The Ice Breaker Dash Triathlon bike course is a ONE-LAP 6.5 mile course located entirely with the park on roads closed to traffic. Athletes will return to the transition area after completing one lap. Course maps will be available on race morning at Registration. The Bike courses will Not have an aid station. Water and electrolyte beverage, along with energy gels will be available in the transition area.

Run - The ICE Breaker Triathlon 4-mile run course leaves transition and runs on single-track trails along the lake back towards Beal’s Point. The out and back course has 3 aid stations that will be stocked with water, Clif Beverage, and Clif Shot Energy gels. The finish is back at the start area at the Granite Beach. The Ice Breaker Dash Duathlon and Triathlon 2 mile course leaves transition the same as the 4-mile course and returns after the mile one aid station. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.

Aid Stations:

Aid stations will be located in the transition area and at mile one on the run course, serving cold water, and Electrolyte beverage.

Divisions and Awards:

Awards are for 1st through 5th place in each age group/category for the ICE Breaker Triathlon and 1st through 3rd place in the Ice Breaker Dash.

Equipment:

Expected water temperature for Folsom Lake will be 54-58 degrees. Wetsuits are strongly recommended. Swim fins and snorkels are not allowed. Helmets must be worn and buckled on the bike at all times. Run numbers must be worn on the run and when crossing the finish line. Listening devices of any kind: MP3, IPod, headphones, etc...are not allowed.

Competitor Goodies:

Included for each athlete is an ICE BREAKER tech-tee race shirt, swim cap, athlete goody bag, hot post race meal and free athlete massage.

Post Race Athlete Food:

Included for each competitor is a post race meal of hot pasta with salad, fruit, cookies and beverage.

Refund and Transfer Information:

TBF Racing has a no refund policy on all of our events. A refund requested prior to race week will be given a TBF Race credit for the amount of the entry fee minus a $25 processing fee. Credits are not given during race week. Transfers are allowed from one TBF Racing event to another within a one-year time frame. There is a $25 transfer fee. Transfers are not allowed during race week. ALL TBF Racing events are held rain or shine.

Volunteering:

Our Race for FREE Athlete Volunteer Program offers a chance to get involved with multi-sport events, have fun, and earn a $40 TBF Racing Volunteer voucher good towards entry fees at any of our events this year. Each volunteer shift is 4 hours. We ask volunteers to reserve a volunteer position at any of our events by emailing Teri@totalbodyfitness.com as our volunteer positions will fill up quickly.

Training and Coaching:

TBF Training offers the Tri-for-Fun Spring Class beginning in April 2014 for $199. This 6-week class includes entry into the TRI for FUN Triathlon on May 31, 2014 and will help athletes of all levels reach their fitness and performance goals.
